I used to work at LJS, and unfortunately, the batter mix comes all in one bag, so we didn't do anything but add water. They use the same batter on all their fish, chicken, and shrimp, so perhaps you can try searching for their ';fish batter'; as opposed to their ';chicken batter.'; Good luck!! Report Abuse
Long John Silver's Batter-dipped Fish

1 egg
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1. 1) Heat oil in a deep pan to 375掳F 2) Cut fish into wedges approximately.
2. 7'; x.
3. 2';(wide end) x 1 1/2'; (narrow end) 3) With mixer, blend flour,.
4. water, egg,.
5. sugar, and salt. 4) Dip each fillet into the batter, coating.
6. generoursly,.
7. and quickly drop into the oil. 5) Fry each fillet until dark golden.
8. brown,.
9. about 5 minute 6) Remove from oil and place on paper towels or metal.
10. rack to.
11. drain.
12. Soybean oil is what your local Long John Silver's uses to fry their.
13. fish,.
14. and you will best duplicate the real thing by using the same oil.
15. But any.
16. other oil may be substituted. You might want to try canola oil. It.
17. is the.
18. oil lowest in saturated fat, and the taste difference is only.
19. slight.
20. It's crucial that your oil be hot before frying the fish. To.
21. test the.
22. temp., drip some batter into the oil. It should bubble rapidly.
23. After 5.
24. min., the test batter should become golden brown.
This is an official LJS copycat batter used for chicken or fish. Enjoy!
3/4 cup flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup water
Sift dry ingredients.
Add water and mix well.
Use to coat fish or chicken filets.
Cover the fish completely.
Deep fry until a nice golden brown.
an added note. You may need to play with the salt amount a bit. Some people find this recipe not salty enough, while others think it's fine. And make sure your fish or chicken is patted dry or the batter may not stick as well.
All your looking for is tempura batter. Just go to the market and they have them all done for you. It is probably on the same aisle as the shake and bake. Good luck and happy cooking.
I'm in the same boat as you are. I don't know the official clone recipe for it, but I can tell you that the one the person has posted on here is not it. I've used this recipe before, it is good, but it is not the real thing.
